Make Sure Your Doors & Windows Are Protected
Did you know that home burglaries actually happen during the day more than night? It sounds surprising, but it happens. You want to make sure that your home stays a safe haven for you and your loved ones. We've put together some tips to make sure that you can keep your home protected!
1. Install pin locks in your double-hung windows. This can be done by just drilling a hole, and these are also great to have if you also have sliding doors in your house. Pin locks can easily be found online if you're interested in using these to protect your home.
2. Are you looking to find a way to enhance the safety of your outdoor shed? Invest in a security hinge with tamper-proof pins and a locking center. This will keep intruders out for sure.
3. Something for both your doors and windows are to invest in alarms. Make sure your doors and windows are locked, and take the extra precaution of installing alarms that go off once the window or door opens up. This will scare off anyone trying to sneak in!
4. You'll want to install some door reinforcement hardware to all of your doors. Most burglars don't actually know how to pick a lock and tend to use force to get in instead. Instead of focusing on protecting your locks, focus on upgrading your door and jam.
5. If your door has a deadbolt, you'll want to make sure that you can "pick-proof" it. By getting a deadbolt protection device, you can slide a lock over it so that you can't turn the deadbolt at all.
6. Strengthen your door strike plate with extra-long screws. Having longer screws will make it more difficult for the door to give in to being kicked in.
7. Do you have a patio door? Those are the easiest to pick the locks on. You'll want to get an auxiliary foot lock that fastens at the bottom of the door. It has a grommet to bolt in that will help hold it closed.
8. A great addition to your house's doors is to make sure there's a peephole in it. That way, you'll always be able to see who is on the other side before answering.
9. Adding window bars to the outside of your home will always protect your windows from intruders too. You can even get some that have a nice touch of personality to them to help decorate the outside of your houses.
10. Last but not least, it never hurts to have some sort of security system that has cameras. That way, you'll always have proof or evidence if something happens. It's a great asset to have and will help put your mind at ease.
